Most of us weren't taught how to conduct neurodiversity-affirming Autism and ADHD assessments in grad school.

So we end up piecing things together from books, podcasts, trainings, social media and a whole lot of trial and error.

The Divergent Clinician was created to make that process less overwhelming.

Through our consultation membership community, you'll get access to training, resources, case consultation, and a community of clinicians who are trying to figure out the same things you are: how to conduct assessments that are clinically sound, neurodiversity-affirming, and genuinely helpful for the people sitting across from us.

We'll talk about differential diagnosis, report writing, accommodations, interviewing, complex cases, commonly missed presentations, assessment ethics, and all the messy gray areas that don't fit neatly into a textbook.

Whether you're just considering adding assessments to your practice or you've been conducting evaluations for years, you're welcome here.

Come for the consultation, but stay for this incredible community and realization that you're not the only one who's been Googling this stuff at 12AM.

What does it mean to be neurodivergent

affirming in a psychological evaluation?

Neurodivergent affirming, also known as neuro-affirming, is an approach that recognizes and respects neurological differences as natural variations of the human experience rather than viewing them as deficits or disorders. This perspective is rooted in the neurodiversity movement, which advocates for the acceptance and understanding of neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological variations. Being neurodivergent affirming in a psychological evaluation means adopting an approach that recognizes and respects neurological differences as natural variations rather than as deficits or disorders. This involves several key principles and practices designed to ensure the evaluation process is respectful, inclusive, and empowering for neurodivergent individuals.
